One in the mouth is sometimes worth two in the hand

You know that loose tooth of Tahlor's that I mentioned in my previous post? It is out today. It just so happened that Tahlor and I had our semi-annual teeth cleaning scheduled. While we were there I asked our dentist to take a look at it and take it out if it was ready. Sure enough, it was ready! And the one right next to it too! Two teeth in one day...way to take the plunge Tahlor. John and I worked a few times to try to get it out but since it was Tahlor's first she did not know what to expect and that made it a bit challenging. Nothing like having the dentist take a crack at it. We even got to see the x-rays of Tahlor's mouth and it was very interesting to see the baby and adult teeth. Wow - the adult teeth are at least twice the size of the babies!

Afterwards, Tahlor remarked that getting them out was no big deal. She did not even cry when it happened. Truth be known, once she heard the word 'blood' after the teeth were already out, it sent her into tears. They put some gauze at the site to help the little bleeding cease sooner. I am hoping with this first experience out of the way the next ones to come will be much easier for John, Tahlor and I to manage on our own.

The four of us piled into the car and headed to DQ for icecream treats in celebration of the occasion.

For now, Tahlor is looking forward to a visit from the Tooth Fairy.

Where are the pics?

While the last month has been busy, I have not taken many pictures. The only thing I've got are portions of John's day surgery for his shoulder. The best one is the incriminating picture of him putting on stockings. I am going to keep this one around for a while...could come in handy quite often.

The surgery went well and he is now about one month post surgery and diving into physical therapy. We are hoping he will return to work in the next month.

Tahlor celebrated her sixth birthday just before Christmas. She was blessed to receive some great toys and clothes from family and friends. Right now we are working on a loose tooth. Hopefully a blog post topic to follow shortly.

Christmas was wonderful except for the fact that Tahlor missed the last two days of school due to a cold and then of course it was spread around the family. Because they are young, the girls ended up with ear infections as well. We were all sick or getting over the cold by the time Christmas morning came...even then we had a good time. Grandmas and Grandpas came over for dinner in the afternoon and of course, that meant the joy of opening more gifts. Thank you everyone!

Overall 2010 was a good year. Our family is looking forward to a fantastic 2011. Happy New Year to you and yours!
